"I watched movies about racism and I've read about it," said Gilyard. "You think you have a handle on it, but it makes me feel different having something like that happen to me."

Gabrielle Adell of Salt Lake Utah is an aspiring actress who plans to move to Los Angeles in the summer to start her career. "It is what I am passionate about and I know I can make it. My adopted parents support me and help guide me towards my dream," said Adell. Gabrielle moved out of her home four years ago and was brought in by her best friends parents, who happen to be black. "I have never paid attention to race. People are people. Their skin color doesn't matter," said Adell.
