Sometimes you just have to go. A few weeks ago I traveled home to Atlanta for a family trip to Pensacola, Florida. This trip has always been an important one. My first vacation in Pensacola with my best friend Justin and his parents led to my discovery of photography. Justin’s dad had a Canon digital point and shoot camera and for the entire trip I filled up the memory card over and over again. Years later, I’ve become more selective over what I shoot, but that core passion for photography still burns bright.
This year's vacation was a bit different mainly because of a ankle injury (more to come later). My exploring ability was limited and I had to rely on others to get my camera and to set up a tripod.
Regardless, the trip was a relaxing escape from the city. I watched sunsets every evening, ate some great food, went on boat rides, and got to experience the Blue Angels practice above my head. Plus, I got to geek out and test the 5D Mark IV’s 4K footage / 4K screen grabs, and shoot some time-lapses using the DJI Osmo Mobile. Overall, I would say I had a great trip! Check out some of my shots.
Here are two short video:
Tech Talk & Gear:
Gear-wise I kept things pretty minimal and light.
GoPro Hero Session4, Iphone7, and the DJI Osmo Mobile.
I constantly find myself in discussions about cameras and which is the best one etc. I think the best camera is the one you have with you, but when given an option of picking a camera, I will always go for the Canon. The image quality and usability is always on point especially with the Canon Mark IV. I like the portability of the GoPro & the iPhone, but let's be real: The image quality sucks and thats what really matters (to me). I love the DJI Osmo Mobile. It is fun to use and make videos smooth as butter. The only drawback is the software. You have to have the device on in order to download the video footage. Then of course there's the Fujifilm instax mini 90 Instant Film Camera, which is a fun nostalgic camera to use.
So there you have it! A highlight of my vacation trip! I hope you enjoyed this post and be sure to follow me on Instagram! Be chill and keep shooting!
